The Business Systems Analyst is responsible for developing a deep understanding of Cornish software programs and business strategies with the aim of maximizing communication, systems integration and supporting maintenance, enhancement, and the accurate reporting and management of data college-wide. Successful candidates will be able to meld technical expertise in a variety of reporting technologies with a customer-service mindset and keen ear for complex user needs and changing federal regulations. The Business Systems Analyst provides support in producing not just clear and concise reports, but also key strategic insight for the future of the College. This position is under the OPEIU Local 8 contract.
Primary Job Functions
- Provide support for software configuration and functionality, and improve training and operational procedures to best align with industry trends
- Perform business analysis and configuration to ensure efficient and effective business processes and software functionality
- Produce and provide reports to Executive Leadership to support recommendations and occasionally produce and present reports for the Board of Trustees.
- Be a problem solver. Identify configuration issues and work to resolve them while leaning into clear and frequent communication with stakeholders.
- Supports the Office of Institutional Research by providing stakeholders with data and processes for research and analytical needs and initiatives as needed.
- Oversees the implementation of projects from beginning to end. Design, test, and implement changes to business applications to meet end-user requirements, and assist college with business process design that facilitates more efficient and workable solutions for the team.
- Respond to change requests and fully research solutions. Help navigate ambiguous or conflicting work processes and identify ways to solve these challenges. Analyze existing and new systems to determine if they are the right fit for Cornish, and identify integration opportunities when they are available.
- Provide ongoing functional support for system applications including troubleshooting and resolving reported problems. Track issues and identify trends in end user issues, then initiate training and other solutions to improve user performance. Consult with stakeholders on training materials.
- Serve as technical and functional lead over several software applications.
- Anticipate future system needs; ensure documentation of system operations, changes, maintenance, and rules; seek opportunities to improve efficiencies.
Desired Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree plus two to three years experience in business systems analysis, previous computer and database systems or a similar analytical position, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Demonstrated ability to effectively manage processes and data in a lively college environment,
- Proven customer service mind-set and demonstrable & effective written and verbal interpersonal communication skills.
- Track record of receiving & positively internalizing feedback and verifiable ability to solve big, institutional challenges.
- Intermediate+ proficiency with database report-writing software and query writing (T-SQL, SSRS and/or MS Access), as well as MS Office.
- Beginner+ familiarity with CRMs and Document Management Systems
- Demonstrated ability to merge and synthesize data from multiple sources to produce comprehensive cross-departmental reports.
- Proven project management skills and attention to detail.
- Verifiable experience with analytics and data visualization software such as Power BI.
- Demonstrated experience working with document processing e-signatures programs (Adobe Sign or Docusign).
- Proven ability to enjoy and embrace a diverse community and the ability to collaborate with multiple constituencies, from faculty and staff, to students, to executive leadership and the board.
- Demonstrable understanding of data transformation between independent systems.
- Verifiable ability to maintain confidentiality.
- Track record of organization and task orientation, with specific attention to details.
- Demonstrated ability to be a self-starter and to work with minimal supervision.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working in a higher education or nonprofit environment.
- Desire to work in a student-centered college environment.
- Experience with Jenzabar, PowerFAIDS or InfoMaker.
- Experience with Slate CRM.
